About

My name is Victoria Pittari and I am keen to raise awareness and support for the local farmers of Moree during this tough drought period. I personally lived and worked in Moree for 8 months and got to know the down to earth farmers who work very hard to sustain their farms. It was through contact with a friend in Bingara (one hour's drive from Moree) that I came to feel that the farmers need more support. Their livestock are dying due to lack of grass/hay/food, and crops are not yielding as much profit due to the lack of water that will allow the seeds to germinate. As funds decrease farmers find it difficult to source food and water because it is not naturally available to them. In these cases a little bit goes a long way.The funds will help them to buy feed, water, and support them in their personal lives as they raise children, travel, and buy food.

The severity of the drought gave me the idea to hold a fundraiser in Laurieton. This event will include praying for farmers, live music from local singers and musicians, letter writing to encourage the farmers, individual financial giving, as well as tea/coffee and light refreshments. When you RSVP please add dietary requirements in the comments section.

Please note that $5000 is just target. If we go over then that would be amazing!

The event

The event was held on the 4th of October and had a great turnout! We had Helen Motee, a local performer, attend and sing as well as lots of yummy food. There was a drought spot talk which focused on the ways in which the drought affects farmers on many different levels. There was a time of worship, singing, and lots of letters were written to encourage the farmers. Overall a large donation was given from all those who attended and we are still receiving donations. Most importantly, prayer was prioritised and many took prayer cards with them to continue praying. It is awesome to see the support people are giving. I am thankful for you all!

All funds are going to be given to Moree Baptist Church, who will decide as a board how the funds will be allocated. It will be up to the church's discretion to determine who is in need the most. Please also note that the funds may be distributed over time and not all at once. There will be no administration costs from them and if you would like a breakdown of who receives funds then you are more then welcome to ask the church for it.
